About:
The Access to City Employment Program (ACE) seeks to hire qualified individuals with a disability into permanent entry-level jobs outside of the normal civil service selection process.
To be hired via the ACE Program, individuals must meet the minimum qualifications of the job and provide a Certification of Disability from the state of California or Rehabilitation or Veterans Administration.
Role description
According to Civil Service Commission Rule 109, the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive list.
- Reviews, inspects, and validates a wide variety of sources, documents and records to obtain evidence and information necessary to locate persons owing monies to the city.
- Contacts a variety of outside organizations in locating assets of individuals owing money to the city.
- Updates the accounts with relevant documentation; performs any required maintenance (status code changes, adjustments needed, cancellations, etc.) and implements the next appropriate step in the collection process.
- Maintains updated account information when new contact data (address, phone number, employer data, etc.) has been identified and updates the various databases for follow-up, including scanning relevant documents.
- Provides information and resolution alternatives to the public on the payment of taxes, delinquent accounts and license fees.
How to qualify
These minimum qualifications establish the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license(s) which are required for employment in the classification. Two (2) years of verifiable journey-level experience in the collection of delinquent accounts.
License and Certification:
Substitution:
Experience performing high volume accounts receivable duties, including analyses of complex billing and financial information, and generating reports of financial liabilities, may substitute for the required collections experience on a year for year basis.
